The participants from this annual event comprises of music students from age 4 to young adults, both locally and from neighboring countries such as Singapore, Indonesia and Brunei and Australia. This event is also regularly supported by various local and international professional musicians, examiners and educators, contributing their time and efforts to adjudicate and educate the participating students. Some of our contributors are internationally renown pianist such as Dennis Lee, Chee-Hung Toh, Mei-Yi Foo, and Bobby Chen, to name a few.

The Malaysian Youth Music Festival is a big scale music competition in different instruments and voices for music students of all ages and levels starting from as young as age 4 to young adults. The aims of the festival is to help increase music education standards and awareness among young Malaysians whilst giving students a platform to perform in public. MYOF’s debut festival was successfully organised on the 1st September 2007 in Kuala Lumpur. It attracted over 400 entries and more than 800 observers from all over Malaysia and Indonesia throughout an entire festival day. This was the beginning of an annual programme which was much needed in the music education scene in Malaysia.

Since then, the foundation has successfully organised this annual festival which grew from 1 full day of competitions and music activities to two full days in the recent years. 2016 saw the 10th Anniversary of the Malaysian Youth Music Festival held at the Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel. It attracted 678 participating entries from solo performances to ensemble performances.
